To make the Symposium environment as pleasant as possible for all participants, please refrain from wearing perfumes.

When is the Symposium?
Symposium activities begin on the afternoon of Thursday October 27th and ends on Sunday October 30th with lunch.

Where does the Symposium take place?
SPARC will be held at the Pinestone Resort & Conference Centre, just 11 km outside the village of Haliburton – 4252 Haliburton County Road 21. Delegates must make and pay for their own travel and hotel arrangements.

Who can attend the Symposium?
The Symposium welcomes creators, producers, presenters, administrators and animateurs of theatre, dance, music and media arts – both professional and non-professional and volunteers.

How can I register?
The easiest way to register is online. Early bird registration provides a discount and ends on September 30th 2016.

What are the registration fees?
The full Symposium registration fee is $265 until September 30th 2016 and $315 after that. Please note that 13% HST will be added to all conference registration fees.

Can I register for a single day?
Yes. Registration is available for Friday October 28th  and Saturday October 29th at a cost of $125/person per day. We encourage attendance for the entire event.

Is there a student/youth rate?
Yes. Student/youth rates apply to full-time university, college and high school students. Youth are individuals between the ages of 18 and 29. Proof of student status must be sent with your registration to receive the reduced student rate of $200.

Can I register only for a Plenary Keynote address?
Yes. Tickets are $35 each.

Can I purchase additional tickets for Saturday Night’s Un-Gala Dinner & Entertainment Showcase?
Yes. Tickets for the dinner and showcase are $45. Tickets are also available for the showcase only and are $20.

What does the Symposium registration fee include?
The registration fee includes access to all sessions, Symposium materials, Thursday evening’s Welcome Reception & Open Stage, a light breakfast and lunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and all refreshment breaks. It also includes a ticket for Saturday night’s special dinner and performances.
Single-day registration fees include access to sessions, symposium materials, a light breakfast, lunch and refreshment breaks on that day only.

Can I register now and pay later?
Yes. Payment by cheque can follow your online registration. TicketPro, SPARC’s registration partner, will follow up with you to make arrangements. Please make cheques payable to “SPARC” in Canadian funds. Payment must be received by September 30th 2016 to be eligible for the early bird rate.

Is there any financial assistance available?
Yes. A limited amount of funding assistance is available by applying to the SPARC Scholarship Fund. We expect that you will seek funding from alternative sources before you apply to SPARC’s Scholarship Fund. Scholarship funds may be used to cover registration fees and in some cases, travel and accommodation. Please contact the Symposium Project Coordinator, Rachel Gillooly by phone, at 705.454.8107, or email rachel@sparcperformingarts.com for the application form. Applications will be reviewed and approved based on merit and remaining available funds.

Can I transfer my registration to another colleague if I am unable to attend?
Yes. Participant substitutions are welcome and must be made in advance in writing to the Project Coordinator, Rachel Gillooly at rachel@sparcperformingarts.com and include the names of both the original and substitute registrant. Substitutions must be made by Friday, October 21st 2016. Please note that any change or cancellation of travel or hotel reservations is the exclusive responsibility of the registrant.

What is the cancellation policy?
All cancellations must be received in writing no later than 11:59 pm Eastern Time on Friday, September 30th 2016. There is a $75 processing fee for all cancellations. Advance registrations cancelled after Friday, September 30th 2016 will not be refunded for any reason. Likewise, those who register but do not attend will not receive a refund.
Substitutions are welcome, but must be made by Friday, October 21st 2016.

If I am a speaker at the Symposium, do I need to register?
Yes. Confirmed presenters are encouraged to attend and participate in the full symposium.

How can I become a sponsor or advertise in the SPARC program book?

Will you be able to accommodate my special diet?
Yes. Participants will be able to indicate special diet requests on the online registration. You will then be provided information about the specifics of your request when you check in at the Symposium registration desk.
